Maintel launches a Carbon Estimator to calculate telephony equipment emissions

London, UK, June 2022: Maintel, the cloud and managed services company, has announced its new Carbon Estimator for communications/telephony equipment:

The platform will allow organisations to compare their current telephony system with a cloud-based solution and demonstrate if a migration to cloud could result in lower carbon emissions.

Government legislation and requirements are driving organisations to look at their carbon emissions, as part of a wider sustainability push. Telephony systems must form part of this analysis if companies are to meet strict net zero targets.

The carbon estimator has been created to assist IT teams looking to support a case to transition to cloud telephony. While this is an estimator, Maintel also offers full on-site audit services to provide an absolute number.

The platform has been designed to allow ease of use. It requires no login and allows users to either send themselves the findings by email, or to save the results for future evaluation.

Joanne Ballard, ESG Strategy and Compliance Director at Maintel said: “We hope our new Estimator will stimulate conversations between ESG and Sustainability leads, and the IT department.

“IT equipment creates carbon emissions and has a footprint, both from its manufacturing and ongoing use. This tool will help to inform business leaders of how migrating to cloud telephony can lower carbon emissions. It will allow organisations to review their ESG efforts and better meet latest Government
legislation.”
